Izvinite što sam odabrao verziju pesme koja je otužnog audio kvaliteta. Ali, ovo nije parada hifilističnih zvukova, nego priča o značajnoj muzici. A “Redemption Song” je značajna, veličanstvena i besmrtna pesma. I tako je ne zato što je Bob Marley njome sebi napisao epitaf, nego zato što pogađa u srce.
Zapravo, fora je u tome što je u vreme snimanja ove numere Marley već imao problema sa melanomom na nožnom prstu i trpeo je bolove. Tada nije mogao da pretpostavi da su metastaze po telu već krenule, ali prijatelji kažu da je sve češće metafizičio o prelasku u više sfere…
Pesma je, ne bez naknadno primećene simbolike, zatvorila deveti album grupe Bob Marley & the Wailers, poslednji koji je objavljen za života velikog muzičara. Doživeli smo nešto slično još jednom, jedanaest godina posle albuma Uprising, na albumu Innuendo grupe Queen…
